Dick Isler, Executive Vice President of the Ohio Pork Producers Association, will join Governor Bob Taft in Guadalajara on Saturday, May 17, to promote the high quality swine available from Ohio pork producers and to sell breeding animals to hog farms in Mexico.

Organization background. The Ohio Pork Producers Council was established in 1968 when Ohio pork producers determined it was a necessity to promote their own product.  When the organization began, about 800 pork producers dedicated themselves to this task.  The Council now has approximately 2,500 members.  As the organization has grown, so have the programs to promote pork along with increased services for OPPC members.

Organization mission. The mission of OPPC is to serve and benefit its members regardless of size, in the areas of member services, legislative and environmental issues, consumer and producer education, and market development.  The organization provides educational programs to its members in production and environmental areas.  It also works closely with the National Pork Board in promoting the positive qualities of pork to consumers.

Representing OPPC in Mexico. Dick Isler has been the executive vice president of the OPPC since 1973 and is responsible for overseeing all programs of OPPC including finances, management, pork promotions and education programs.
