company is recalling about 250 half-gallon packages of vanilla ice cream
that contain pecans but do not list them on the ingredients
WASHINGTON
-- An Ohio company is recalling about 250 half-gallon packages of vanilla ice
cream that contain pecans but do not list them on the ingredients.
Smith
Dairy Products Co., of Orrville said the packages of Ruggles No Sugar Added
vanilla ice cream may cause severe allergic reactions to people with pecan
allergies.
No
illnesses have been reported to date, said company spokesman William McCabe. The
company is recalling the product as a precautionary measure in cooperation with
the Food and Drug Administration.
The
recalled packages were distributed to retailers in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio,
Pennsylvania and West Virginia and bear the code 336 2 on the side panel.
Consumers who purchased the recalled ice cream can return the unopened package to the store of purchase for a full refund or contact the company at 1-800-776-7076 for more information.
