Bear Creek Stores, Inc. Dba, Harry and David Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Almonds
and Hazelnuts in Harry and David Milk Chocolate, Cherry, and Coffee Truffle Assortment 

Medford, OR - Bear Creek Stores, Inc., dba, Harry and David of Medford, OR is recalling 2325 packages of their Truffle Assortment labeled Milk Chocolate, Cherry & Coffee because they may contain undeclared almonds and hazelnuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds and hazelnuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.  

The Milk Chocolate, Cherry, & Coffee Truffle Assortment was distributed in Harry and David retail stores in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. This recall only involves product that was purchased in Harry and David retail stores and not through the catalog. 

The product comes in a 1 pound, clear and green, resealable bag. The product contains a front label that states:

Harry and David Truffle Assortment
Milk Chocolate, Cherry, & Coffee 

The back label on the product contains the code 3052 or 3062 and a Best if Used by Date of 09/28/03 in the bottom lower left hand corner of the ingredient label. 

No allergic reactions or illnesses have been reported to date. An investigation commenced when a Harry and David store employee noticed that a package containing Almond and Hazelnut truffles was not correctly labeled. The investigation disclosed that the error in labeling was limited to some packages with code of 3052 and 3062 and the recall was initiated.  

Consumers who have purchased the Harry and David Truffle Assortment of Milk Chocolate, Cherry, & Coffee in a clear and green, resealable, 1 pound bag with code 3052 or 3062 are urged to return it to the store where they purchased the product for a full refund.
