Fishers,
IN - Golden Stream Quality Foods of Fishers, IN is recalling its 8 oz. packages
of Island Crunch Mix because they may contain undeclared cashews. People who
have allergies to cashews run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic
reaction if they consume these products.
The
Island Crunch Mix was distributed to retail stores in the following states: AL,
AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, HI, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NE, NY,
OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WA and WI. The products affected would have a “best by
date” between 100303 and 050504. The product comes in an 8 oz. preprinted
plastic stand up bag.
No
illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem. The recall
was initiated after routine quality inspections discovered the cashew-containing
product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of
cashews.
This
recall is voluntarily initiated by Golden Stream in cooperation with the U.S.
FDA.
In
order to maintain the highest quality control, the company has already conducted
a process audit and has implemented the appropriate corrective actions during
the processing and packaging process.
Consumers
who have purchased 8 oz. packages of Island Crunch Mix are urged to return them
