ASTOR SESAME SEED AND FISCHER'S GREENS SEASONINGS
RECALLED DUE TO POSSIBLE SALMONELLA CONTAMINATION

JACKSONVILLE, FL, -- Astor Products is recalling Astor Sesame Seeds and Fischer's Greens Seasonings because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.

Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare cases, infection can move to the bloodstream, and produce more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, (i.e. infected aneurysms) endocarditis and arthritis.

Astor Sesame Seeds and Fischer's Greens Seasonings were sold in Winn-Dixie stores and SaveRite Grocery Warehouse stores in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Kentucky and Ohio.

The Astor product is packaged in cases containing 1oz of Astor Poly and 2 oz of Astor Gourmet and 29 oz of Fischer's Greens Seasoning. Products affected bear the sell-by dates of 2/27/04 through 5/15/04.

No illnesses have been reported to date, and no other products are affected by this recall. The recall was initiated after Astor Products was contacted by the Food and Drug Administration regarding the possible contamination.

Consumers who have purchased Astor Sesame Seeds and Fischer's Greens Seasonings are urged to return it to their Winn-Dixie or SaveRite Grocery Warehouse store for a full refund. Consumers with questions may call 866-893-3836.
