RIDGEWOOD, NY- January 29, 2001 - Asian-Am Product, Inc., 75A Onderdonk Avenue, Ridgewood, NY 11385 is recalling Siamese Coins Brand Products as listed.

Bamboo Shoot Tung in Water 24 oz. in glass jar
Bamboo Shoot Tip, 24 oz. in glass jar
Pickled Eggplants, 8 oz. in glass jar
Pickled Young Green jack fruit 16 oz.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulfites, run the risk of a serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Products were distributed in NY, NJ, PA, CT, OH, MD, VA, NC, IL, MA. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the products contained sulfites that were not indicated on the labels. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock can occur in certain sulfite-sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites.
