VOLUNTARY RECALL
COLUMBUS -- The Herman Falter Packing Company of Columbus, Ohio is voluntarily recalling approximately 900 pounds of Ring Liver Pudding and/or Liver Pan Pudding because they may be contaminated with Salmonella according to James Falter, President of the Company.
The Ohio Department of Agriculture discovered the potential problem through its routine monitoring of the food supply for possible contamination. "ONE" sample of the Falter brand pudding was found to contain salmonella in tests conducted by the agency's Consumer Analytical Laboratory.
The products subject to recall are described below:
Falter's Purity Brand Ring Liver Pudding
Falter's Purity Brand Liver Pudding
All the product will be identified by a "sell by" date of May 12, which will be stamped on the package. The pudding was sold to retail stores in Central Ohio with sales initiated on March 17, 2000. These products are cooked during processing and considered "ready to eat." Proper cooking and preparation of the product by the consumer can kill the bacteria and eliminate the potential for illness.
Because of the potential of food borne illness, The Herman Falter Packing Company urges their customers who have purchased the suspect product not to eat it and return it to the point of purchase.
