Ethanol is a high octane fuel that can be made from corn, sorghum, and other agricultural products. When added to ordinary unleaded gasoline, ethanol increases the oxygen content of the fuel – helping it burn cleaner and cooler, which makes it a viable and appealing alternative to petroleum-based fuels. Ohio is one of many states increasing its ethanol use, production, and exposure.

E85 is a blend of 85 percent ethanol fuel.
