External
Links: The
Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) receives many requests
from its affiliates and public organizations to either
link to the www.ohioagriculture.gov or
to provide a link on the ODA website to a particular
website or resource. These type of links are both
external, but ODA has different guidelines for handling
and processing each type of request:
-
To place a link on your site linking to www.ohioagriculture.gov, follow the ODA Permission To Link Policy.
- To have a link placed on www.ohioagriculture.gov linking to your site, follow the ODA Link Directory Policy.
In order to ensure ODA credibility with its agriculture constituents, ODA requests that any site or resource using a graphic, logo, or text to guide an internet user to www.ohioagriculture.gov have a signed ODA Permission to Link Request from the Director of Agriculture, or his/her designee.
The Permission to Link Request will aid ODA in protecting the agency from any misrepresentation or misuse of the ODA logos, graphics, and references.
Any site linking to ODA's website without a Permission to Link Request, risks the possibility of being blocked from accessing the ODA website.
In order to maintain an impartial and quality link directory at www.ohioagriculture.gov, the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) uses the ODA Link Directory Checklist to balance an external site's strengths against shortcomings in evaluating each resource in a number of web-related areas. Few resources will meet all criteria. Any of these criteria may provide an overwhelming reason to either select or reject a specific resource from being entered in the ODA Link Directory.
ODA will not allow or accept any paid advertisements, sponsorships or endorsements, including vendor-hosted websites to be placed on any page within the www.ohioagriculture.gov website.
The selection or rejection of an external site being listed in the ODA Link Directory is the sole discretion of the Director of Agriculture, or his/her ODA designee.
Each selected link will be checked periodically for viability by link-checking software. Any broken link will be removed, or replaced, immediately without notice to the resource provider. ODA may also change the location of the external link within the ODA website without prior approval from the provider or notification to the provider.
Additionally, ODA will regularly re-evaluate all links using this selection criteria to determine their ongoing appropriateness. Any resource that has changed substantially and no longer meets the selection criteria will be removed. Any resource may also be replaced by a comparable resource that better meets the needs of the Ohio Department of Agriculture's web audience. To this end, it is important for a site provider to review the ODA Link Directory selection criteria and strive to maintain compliance to remain on www.ohioagriculture.gov.
All website providers will be asked to agree to these terms and submit a signed and dated ODA Link Directory Agreement prior to being added to the ODA website. This agreement applies to governmental and non-governmental agents and associates.
