About International Markets

Ohio is a leading exporter ranking 13th among all states, exporting more than $1.57 billion annually. Ohio exports agriculture products ranging from processed food and food ingredients to livestock, hardwoods, fruits, vegetables, seeds, plants, feed and food grains.

The Division of Markets' international trade program facilitates the export of these products by linking Ohio's agribusinesses with other businesses, buyers, federal and state programs, industry organizations and international contacts.

The Division of Markets arranges targeted trade missions around the world, hosts foreign buying delegations visiting Ohio and assists agribusinesses to market to foreign and domestic buyers and distributors through US and foreign trade shows.

Agribusinesses that have never exported can learn the necessary skills through seminars, computer based export training programs and by consulting with the trade experts.

The Division of Markets collaborates with national and regional partner organizations specialized in the exporting specific agriculture products on order to supply the latest information to Ohio agribusinesses.

Developing new international markets ensures the future strength of Ohio agriculture. With the Division of Markets' international trade program, even small- and medium-sized companies can benefit their international business by participating in:

  • International trade shows and events
  • Buying delegations to Ohio
  • Export training seminars and one-on-one company consultations
  • Trade missions
  • A network of marketing specialists located worldwide with access to the latest market research and business contacts
  • Regional and national organizations that administer the federally-funded Market Access Program which provides dollars for marketing U.S. agricultural products overseas
  • Assistance with the technical aspects of exporting: transportation, packaging, financing, tariffs, foreign market standards, trade regulations, foreign business practices and customs, etc.

The Division of Markets' international trade program is on a mission, to provide your Ohio agribusiness with guidance, information and encouragement to enter new markets, and expand sales. Let us help you link your business with other businesses, buyers, federal, and state programs, industry organizations, international contacts, universities, and more. We offer assistance that enhances your marketing efforts and increases your bottom line.
