Enforcement
Assuring Compliance with Laws and
Rules
ODA's Enforcement Division provides investigative support
– conducting both criminal and administrative investigations – for all of
ODA’s regulatory divisions.
When
a business or individual regulated by ODA fails to comply with state laws or
rules, the division is called upon to take appropriate action through notices
of violation, letters of warning, administrative actions, or criminal
prosecutions. Gaining industry compliance with food safety regulations is
essential to ODA’s mission to help prevent public health risks.
In an effort to assure the safeness and wholesomeness of our
food supply, all enforcement agents, in conjunction with ODA’s Meat
Inspection Division, received training in Hazard Analysis and Critical Control
Points (HACCP), a production control system for the food industry which
combines common sense with science to help assure safer food production. In
addition, all enforcement agents received training from the Food Safety
Division on the Retail Food Establishment/Food Service Operation Laws. These
trainings give enforcement agents the information they need to better enforce
the Department’s food safety regulations.
