REYNOLDSBURG - The Ohio Department of Agriculture recently
discovered an Emerald Ash Borer infestation in North Baltimore, outside the
department's current eradication area. In order to eliminate the destructive
insect from North Baltimore, ODA is now expanding its eradication zone, where
ash-tree cutting began in October, to include this newest find. ODA will host
an open house where newly affected residents can talk directly with the department's
plant pest control staff and view displays about Emerald Ash Borer and maps
of the updated eradication zone.

The Emerald Ash Borer was first discovered in Ohio in 2003 in Lucas County and to date has been found in Defiance, Franklin, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, and Wood counties. It was discovered in North Baltimore in July, and eradication began in October. An additional infestation was recently discovered on a trap tree just outside the original eradication zone.
